"And the word of the Lord came unto him saying. Arise and get thee to Zarephat, which belongeth to Sidon, and dwell there, behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee. So he arose and went to Zarephat. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink. And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand. And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake but a handful of meal in a barrel. And a little oil in a cruise: and, behold I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it and die" .(KJV) The problem today is that men do not recognize their God given assignment. And they also fail to realize that there is blessing anchored in every assignment. When you discover His assignment to you and you keep doing it your blessing is guaranteed. God cannot give you an assignment no matter what it takes to do it without making provision for the blessings that are contained in it. Everything has been planned about your life before you came into existence and you find out that most times people suffer, pray, fast, even go to mountain yet they do not prosper. The simple reason is because they refuse to understand the assignment that God has handed over to them to do. You are not ordinary, you are here to fulfill a purpose and accomplish something great. And for every assignment that God gives to you he also releases the grace to do it. It is left to you to key to it. According to the text above, Elijah was in the midst of famine that ravaged the land, when rain refused to fall for three and a half years, a terrible famine that even women agreed to kill and eat their own children. In the midst of it God spoke to him and he arose and went to Zarephat where the widow woman has been prepared ready by God. On meeting the woman at the city gate and making a request from her she obeyed without hesitation though she has already made up her mind to prepare and eat her last meal with her son and wait for death. And one striking factor here is that there is no record that God spoke to the woman prior to Elijah's coming yet she understood the move of God and obeyed divine instruction. And after the Prophet of God spoke the mind of God to her, she and her son including the Prophet had enough to eat throughout the years of famine and never lacked. It is very important that you understand the reason God raised you up and keep doing it with joy and happiness for in it lies your blessings. It might be possible that if you refuse doing it, doors will be locked against that person and he starts going down but if you are in your assignment no power will overrun you, you can't be defeated rather you will be victorious always. In the kingdom of God, the more you are doing your assignment the more you keep prospering. The woman had the assignment of feeding the Servant of God all through the famine and did it joyfully and did not lack. She even had a greater blessing of having her son brought back to life when he gave up the ghost through the prayer of the Prophet of God. During my first travel to Canada for ministration, I got to the airport in Toronto and was stranded because the person who agreed to pick me up disappointed. After about 5 hours there without knowing what next to do, someone appeared and asked if I am the Pastor from USA that he has been called to pick but I told him that I am not from America but Nigeria. He went round the airport but found no other Pastor and coming back to me he said, since I am a Pastor also, that I should go with him. I did. In the course of our introduction, it happened that he is from my neighboring community in Anambra State, Nigeria. He informed me that there is a brother by name Charles who hails from my town - Umuchu living in the city. When he took me to Charles it was like a big ceremony - someone that I have never known or met in my life yet he took me in, vacated his room for me and virtually took care of everything that I did in Canada and paid the bills. On the day I was leaving back to Nigeria, he knelt down and I prayed and spoke the Word of the Lord to him. A couple of weeks later, Charles who has had three previous failed marriages (each of the three women died before the marriage rites could be concluded), had no job and everything about him was in shambles, called me and said that he has been given employment by the Canadian government. Not only has he been given employment, he has been sent to United Kingdom for millions of dollar project. Today he is happily married with children and has investment that run into millions. He understood the assignment that he has been prepared for towards me and he did it faithfully with joy and God of Heaven granted him great open doors and blessings beyond his imagination. Your prosperity, longevity, good health, etc. are anchored on your assignment, discover and key to it. You will not struggle or suffer while doing it. We all have different assignment, do yours and your doors will continually remain open. A man in a place of honor and refuse to recognize it is like a beast that perishes, do not be in the church of God and remain idle. Discover what you are here to do and keep doing it. When you are doing your assignment, you will not die a sudden death because God knows that He still needs you; therefore no power will cut you off from Him. Do not let his blessings be a curse upon your life. Do your assignment and you will flourish like the palm tree planted by the riverside. As you do so, the good Lord will richly bless and prosper you in Jesus name... AMEN.
